The Academy is pleased to announce the publication of its first ever annual report. The report details the Academy's accomplishments during the 2006-2007 school year and also provides relevant financial information pertaining to the school.
On Tuesday, October 2nd, U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spelling formally recognized Naples Christian Academy as a Blue Ribbon School. Naples Christian Academy is the first school in the greater Naples area to be recognized as a Blue Ribbon school since the program was established in 1982. This recognition is the highest award granted by the U.S. Department of Education.
The U.S. Department of Education recognized 267 schools in the United States as Blue Ribbon Schools on October 2nd. Ben Davison, middle school math and science teacher, recently received National Board Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. National Board Certification is the highest symbol for professional teaching excellence. Applicants go through a rigorous application process that is completely voluntary and is designed to recognize experienced educators for the quality of their practice. Naples Christian Academy now has three nationally certified teachers on staff, rare in schools of our size and in Christian schools of any size.
Kathy Hartley, Academy PreK-4 teacher, was named an Apple Blossom Award Winner and Preschool Teacher of the Year by the Naples Alliance for Children. The award is given annually to the top early childhood education professionals in the Naples area. Mrs. Hartley has been on staff at the Academy for 16 years and has taught preschool and Kindergarten. We congraulate her on this high honor.
Debra Cully, 4th grade teacher, was the sole winner of the first annual Golden Halo Award, presented in 2006 by the Christian Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Florida. Mrs. Cully was chosen for the award from hundreds of Christian teachers in the five-county region for her commitment to excellence in Christian education.
Naples Christian Academy was recognized nationally by ACSI as an exemplary school for its program to provide mission and service opportunities to all students.
